Melbourne Grammar School has always attracted a diverse student body and enjoyed an excellent reputation and strong demand for places. Parents are advised to make enquiries and applications with the Director of Admissions at an early date.

Applications for admission are considered in conjunction with a number of criteria (see how offers are made). At Grimwade House, the coeducational primary school, there is high demand for entry at Prep. At Year 7 Melbourne Grammar welcomes boys as day students and boarders and there is also an intake at Year 9.

All students applying for entry from Year 7 onwards are tested for aptitude and ability. The Director of Admissions maintains close contact with those on the waiting list.
