The Melbourne Grammar School community congratulates three Old Melburnians who are off to compete in the 2012 London Olympics. Henry Frayne (OM 2007), David Crawshay (OM 1997), pictured above left, and Karsten Forsterling (OM 1997), pictured above right, have been selected in the Australian Olympic team. Henry will represent Australia in the track and field team as a triple-jumper while David as a rower in the double scull and Karsten in the quad scull. It is David’s second Olympics, following on from his selection for the Beijing Games in 2004 where he took home the gold medal in the men’s double sculls. |
The three take the number of Old Melburnians who have represented their country at the Olympic Games to 38. Melbourne Grammar School’s history of the Olympic Games dates back to the very first modern Olympics when Edwin Flack represented Australia in the 800m, 1500m, Marathon and tennis, winning gold in the 800m and 1500m running events. The 2012 Summer Olympic Games are scheduled to take place in London from 27 July to 12 August 2012. |
