Leading the school they love

School Captains

Melbourne Grammar School’s Captain and Vice Captain for 2011 have promised to give back to the School that has given them so much.

Nick Langford and Nick Churkovich have been appointed Captain and Vice Captain, respectively, of Melbourne Grammar School for 2011.

The two Nicks were elected following glowing endorsements from the student body and members of the staff.

“The selection process involved the collation of votes cast by both staff and boys, and it was clear that the vast majority of the School chose both Nicks as leaders of Melbourne Grammar School in 2011,” says Headmaster Roy Kelley.

Not surprisingly their appointment was met with shock and elation from the boys.

"I was absolutely elated; it’s not every day that you’re officially appointed Captain of Melbourne Grammar! But when it does happen, it is truly humbling,” says Nick Langford upon learning of his appointment.

"Melbourne Grammar School has given me so much over the years. Promoting an environment where there is equal support given to all facets of School life will be my focus, as I go about giving back to the school that I love," he adds.

His deputy, Nick Churkovich, says he hopes to follow in the legacy of past leaders as he prepares for his role in 2011.

“There are particular past leaders that I admire for their efforts and what they have achieved for the school, and I hope that I can learn from these boys and be able to model for myself some of the ways in which they approached their positions,” he says.
