The Melbourne Grammar School Community is invited to attend this unique concert featuring performances from across all three Campuses.

The concert will have an Australian theme and will last just over two hours.

  • All students in Year 5 and 6 will present The Mahogany Ship, which describes the discovery of Australia by the Portuguese in the 16th century
  • Year 2 Strings, comprising 88 players, will perform a medley of Australian tunes
  • Performances by the Wadhurst Choir, String Orchestra and Concert Band
  • The combined Jazz Ensemble and String Orchestra will perform Australian tunes
  • The Senior Concert Band will perform Kelly, a symphonic poem which is a musical depiction of the Ned Kelly era
  • The Symphony Orchestra will perform Australian Folksong Suite, a work commissioned for the Bicentennial and premiered in the Myer Music Bowl in 1988
  • A Grand Finale by the Massed Choir* accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra

* The Massed Choir will consist of all students in Years 5 to 10 who are performing earlier in the concert and all students in Years 11 and 12
