Our boarders have diverse backgrounds, talents and interests but they all help create a strong and welcoming boarding community.

Hear from just a few of our students about their boarding experience at Melbourne Grammar School.

Will (Class of 2023)

Meet Year 12 student Will as he talks about boarding life and the importance of the friendships he has developed at the School.

Will’s family resides in Bendigo. He has been part of the boarding community at Melbourne Grammar School since he joined the School in Year 10.

This year, he was elected Vice-House Captain by his peers and he is making a significant contribution to boarding house life through this role.


Tom (Class of 2024)

Tom's home is a farm in a small community in NSW. He joined the boarding community at Melbourne Grammar in Year 9.

Currently in Year 11, he has received multiple academic awards across a wide range of subjects throughout his time at the School.

Here, he talks about settling into boarding, and the development of his passion for public speaking.


Duncan (Class of 2024)

Year 11 student Duncan is an elite athlete.

He has represented Victoria in hockey since he was 11 years old. Now 16 years of age, Duncan a member of both the Under 18 and Under 21 (reserve) Victorian squads. He has been a member of the School First XI Hockey team since he commenced in Year 10.

A boarder at the School since 2022, Duncan is supported by a General Excellence Scholarship offered on the basis of his sporting prowess and his academic aptitude.


Lourix (Class of 2025)

Hailing from Vietnam, Lourix Nguyen joined the Melbourne Grammar School boarding community as a Year 9 student in 2022.

Here, Lourix highlights the ease of settling into his “home away from home”.

He is the recipient of multiple 2022 and 2023 academic awards.
