Australia’s Chief Scientist and Victorian of the Year, Dr Alan Finkel AO, delivered a thought-provoking address to the Melbourne Grammar School Foundation’s 2016 Annual General Meeting and praised the plans for the new Geoff Handbury Science & Technology Hub, saying that he was “awed by this vision for science education”.
Emeritus Professor Richard Larkins AO (OM 1960), former Chair of School Council and former Vice-Chancellor of Monash University understands the challenges that schools face in today’s global society.
“Science and Technology are so much a part of our lives. In the same way that you need appreciation of the Arts, you need to have an appreciation of Science and how things work,” says Chaitanya Rao (OM 1994).
The School published its revised Vision, Mission and Values Statements at the beginning of first term. They are the result of many months of research, discussion and reflection by the Headmaster, Staff and Council and I recommend them to all members of our community.
On Friday 29 January 2016, the Melbourne Grammar School Sculpture Walk and its first installation were officially opened at a function that was attended by many of the School’s arts supporters.
